Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Physician Specialist for the department of Pediatrics at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

The primary purpose of the Physician Specialist will be to provide patient care at The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. The Physician Specialist will perform as Chief Resident for the residency program.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Holds both clinical and academic responsibilities consistent with General Pediatrics.
  • Responsible for the transport of ill children.
  • Responsible for consultation to Emergency Department (ED), routine newborn and pediatric care.
  • Teaches/mentors residents and medical students assigned to the clinic.
  • Works with clinic staff to improve patient services, charting and clinic policies.
  • Participates/teaches in noon conference at case conferences and ground rounds whenever possible.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Candidate must have MD degree and must have a valid NJ medical license.

Certifications/Licenses

  • CDS/DEA required.
  • Physician must be board eligible or board certified in General Pediatrics.
  • Consideration will also be given to applicants who have not yet obtained all required licensure or board eligibility. Documentation of all required licensure and board eligibility must be provided prior to the commencement of employment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical Demands: Standing, walking, sitting, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lift or exert up to 25 lbs.
  • Work Environment: Hospital environment with moderate noise.
