Description
The Auxiliary Services Manager – Harold Alfond Forum (HAF) provides leadership and oversight for the day-to-day operations of the Harold Alfond Forum, one of the University’s most visible and heavily utilized facilities. This position is responsible for operational planning, budgeting, scheduling, long-term strategy, and stakeholder engagement.
The Manager in this role will oversee the Forum Event Support team, ensuring high-quality service and support for a range of building operational functions geared towards supporting athletics, recreation, student life, and external community programming hosted within the Forum. In addition, the Manager provides direct supervision for a staff of three full-time HAF Ice & Building Technicians and three per diem HAF Ice & Building Technicians, who are responsible for facility operations, ice maintenance, event support, and daily building upkeep.
The Manager also collaborates closely with the Director of Strength & Conditioning to coordinate oversight of student employees and ensure high-quality programming for general students utilizing the Forum Strength and Conditioning spaces.
The role requires regular collaboration with other Auxiliary Services Managers (Danielle Ripich Commons and Mail/Print/Copy/Laundry/Vending) on shared responsibilities, cross-training, and coordinated initiatives to ensure a seamless student and community experience across the University of New England.

Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee daily operations of the Harold Alfond Forum, ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused management of the facility.
- Provide direct leadership and scheduling for all ice, turf, fitness, event, and multipurpose spaces.
- Supervise daily work of HAF Ice & Building Technicians, ensuring facility readiness for athletics, recreation, and community programs.
- Develop and enforce building operational policies and procedures.
Budget & Resource Management
- Create, manage, and reconcile the Forum’s operating budget in conjunction with the Director of Auxiliary Operations.
- Monitor expenses and maximize resources while ensuring fiscal responsibility.
- Provide regular reports and make recommendations regarding capital improvements, repairs, and program expansion.
Staff & Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise the Forum Event Support team, ensuring professional delivery of event and facility services.
- Oversee a staff of 3 full-time and 3 per diem HAF Ice & Building Technicians to support ice, court and multipurpose facility operations.
- Provide mentoring and development opportunities for staff, fostering accountability and a culture of excellence.
- Collaborate with Strength & Conditioning staff on oversight and training of student employees supporting general fitness programming.
Scheduling & Event Management
- Manage daily and long-term scheduling for variety of usage ranging from athletics, recreation, events, and external rentals through proficient us of 25Live.
- Coordinate with Athletics, Conference Services, and other community partners to ensure efficient use of Forum spaces.
- Anticipate long-range facility needs and recommend strategic improvements.
Collaboration & Campus Engagement:
- Work closely with Athletics, Strength & Conditioning, Dining Services, Facilities, IT, and campus partners to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Collaborate with other Auxiliary Services Managers (Ripich Commons and Mail/Print/Copy/Laundry/Vending) to support overlapping needs and provide backup coverage when required.
- Represent Auxiliary Operations at campus wide meetings and on committees as assigned.
HAF User Group Management
- Organize and lead the HAF User Group, comprised of building occupants and stakeholders.
- Facilitate regular monthly meetings to gather feedback, coordinate shared use of space, resolve issues, and drive collaboration across departments.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to support student success and campus engagement
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Sports Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred and 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in facility management, athletics/recreation, auxiliary services, or event operations, with supervisory experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
- Demonstrated experience in budget creation and management.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage full-time staff, per diem staff, and student employees.
- Knowledge of ice arena operations, building systems, and event support best practices.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to work collaboratively across departments and with diverse populations.
- Commitment to student development and creating a supportive environment.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving and technical diagnostic skills related to facility and equipment issues.
- Advanced analytical skills for identifying and resolving operational challenges.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
