UCF Health – Student Health Services (SHS) provides various primary and specialty care services to help keep students, faculty and staff at their optimum health. The Health Center is located on the Main Campus. Our services are designed with students, faculty and staff needs in mind. The Opportunity:
The Student Health Services (SHS) Certified Medical Assistant I position will mainly be responsible for performing physician support services to ensure the care of patients under the oversight of a licensed Physician. Additionally, this position will assist in other areas to meet the needs of UCF Student Health Services.
Responsibilities:
Clinical & Direct Patient Care:

Take and record vital signs and patient statistics.

Room patients via the Electronic Medical Record (E.M.R.) for provider visits.

Assist providers with physical exams, treatments, and surgical procedures as needed.

Administer medications and immunizations as directed.
-
Assist with patient care in Primary Care and Behavioral Health settings.

Ensure appropriate patient follow-up care after provider visits.
Clinical Operations & Support:

Assist in specialty clinics as directed by the RN Supervisor.

Answer telephones as directed by RNs and providers.

Check fax equipment for refill requests and test results.
-
Assist with autoclave use and sterilization procedures as needed.
Infection Control, Safety & Compliance:
-
Maintain infection control standards.
-
Observe OSHA Blood-borne Pathogens standards and Universal Precautions.

Maintain confidentiality of patient records.
-
Fulfill COVID-related activities in accordance with organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 0+ years of relevant experience. Must be certified as a medical assistant.
Preferred Qualifications:

Prior Medical Assisting or ambulatory care experience.

BLS Certification. UCF SHS accepts the American Heart Association (or equivalent as indicated on the certification) which includes the hands-on demonstration portion.

Experience working with Electronic Health Record Systems.

This is a time-limited and auxiliary funded position. Employment is subject to the availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $15.66- $16.00. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
