Job Summary
The Medical Services group with the University of
Colorado, Boulder is seeking applications for a Nursing vacancy! This position provides comprehensive sexual and
reproductive health care, services, education and counseling primarily to the UCB student population. Care may be extended to UCB faculty,
staff and UCB visitors on an urgent care basis.

Medical Services staff understand and are committed to the unique health concerns of our student population, making us an
unparalleled source of advocacy for student wellness! Medical Services provides a wide range of health care services for students for
primary care, physicals, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, allergy shots, vaccinations, travel health care, and
concussion care. Our skilled team of providers collaborate to support the overall health of our students with our team of physicians/nurses,
physical therapists, registered dietitians, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and massage therapists.
What Your Key
Responsibilities Will Be
Patient Care
- Deliver care to all scheduled patients and “walk-in”
patients as needed within a sexual health and reproductive clinic setting, including managing phone calls and coordinating referrals to and
from relevant providers and departments. - Deliver patient care in treatment rooms, including triage/urgent care, phone triage,
reproductive and sexual health assessments, STI screening, contraceptive counseling, physical exams, and immunization
services. - Collaborate with providers to develop and implement treatment plans in accordance with established sexual and reproductive
health guidelines and standards. - Communicate with and educates patients on sexual health conditions, family planning options,
follow-up care, and preventive measures. - Maintain familiarity with the crash cart and is prepared to administer BLS
measures. - Assess patients’ needs during triage, obtains appropriate vital signs, sexual and reproductive health histories, and
documents all pertinent information in the Electronic Medical Record. - Initiate standing orders as appropriate, including those
related to STI testing and contraception. - Cross-train to other specialty clinics as staffing permits.
Patient
Education/Counseling
- Educates/counsels patients on preventative health care, wellness, use of supplies and reinforces
provider’s instructions. Assists with, or directs the scheduling of follow-up care or referrals, assists in the evaluation of outcomes of
plan of care with patient.
EMR Documentation
- Complete documentation in the electronic medical record
including updating the patient summary screen, to include but not limited to assessing for allergies, updating patient’s medication list,
significant personal and family medical history, and learning barriers. - Responsible for charging for all procedures, treatments and
medications given. - Document nursing interventions, phone calls and nursing assessments clearly in the EMR.
- Confirm two
patient identifiers prior to charting
Routine and Continuous Duties
- Maintain current knowledge of
Wardenburg Policies, specifically those related to Medical Services and assists in revision of departmental policies. - Update
personal education log record and PMP in Cornerstone attends nursing and department meetings as assigned. - Perform additional duties
as assigned but not limited to: - Data collection and reporting QI monitors
- Stocking and checking for expired supplies and
medications - Checking equipment for proper function and maintenance in Medical Services.
- Responsibilities may be modified or
expanded based on patient needs and direction from the leadership team.
What We Can Offer
The annual
salary range for this position is $53,175 – $61,417.50, based on an 80% appointment during the academic year (August to May), with time
reduced to 50% during the summer months (June & July), and compensation adjusted accordingly.

What We
Require
- Valid Registered Nurse License from the State of Colorado or any state participating in the Nurse Licensure
Compact (eNLC). - 2 years of sexual health and reproductive care nursing experience preferred.
- BLS certification required upon
date of hire.
What You Will Need
- Able to identify emergency situations.
- Able to navigate
computers and Electronic Health Records (EHR). - Able to prepare and administer medications and immunizations.
- Able to
properly administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections. - Is thorough with documentation and is a good
communicator. - Position requires basic functional computer skills (experience with Windows based systems).
What We

- Experience working with electronic medical record.
- Experience working in college setting
(sexual health preferred). - Ability to communicate and relate well with staff and students in an academic
environment.
