PS Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary

This position works in support of the University Pediatric
Orthopaedic Service at Primary Children’s Hospital, Main Campus.

The successful applicant will be responsible for evaluation of
consults, inpatient and outpatient care and assisting in surgery in concert with the residents, fellows and attendings. Responsibility will
be increased with appropriate knowledge base development.

The position works roughly 7a-4p depending on workload, Monday-Friday.
Schedule may change as needed depending on clinical needs.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions

Assesses the
physical condition of a group of patients by performing physical examinations and obtaining medical histories.
Formulates the medical
plan and prognosis based on patient’s condition.
Consults with physician(s) regarding patient health care plans and treatment.

Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient’s clinical problems and health care needs.

Performs selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence.
Initiates
and/or recommends medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved
protocols/policy.
Complies with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care. Initiates
and maintains required records and legal documents.
Participates in quality improvement activities.
Counsels patients, families and
significant others about health and illness, and promotes health maintenance.
Evaluates, plans, implements, and re-evaluates the care of
individuals requiring emergency measures.
Problem Solving

Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined
above.
Demonstrated clinical competence and in-depth knowledge of specialty area.
Demonstrated leadership, teaching, research and
communication skills.
Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.

Minimum Qualifications
Required

Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
Preferred
Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required
by your department or by privileging criteria.
Utah State prescriptive privileges.
Licensure is obtained by completing a Master’s
degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master’s degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National
Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired
non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill
all associated requirements. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized
according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs
that object to vaccinations.
