Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Records and Statistical Clerk in the Department of Pediatrics within the New Jersey Medical School (NJMS).

The primary purpose of the Records and Statistics Clerk position is to work under the direction of the head clerk and in accordance with WIC policies and procedures, provides certification and clerical client services to WIC enrolled women who are pregnant, postpartum or breast feeding, and to infants and children up to age five (5). Issues checks and ensures integrity of check stock and distribution. Makes clinic appointments and provides front desk support for client check-in. Conducts hemoglobin testing and takes height and weight measurements of WIC participants. Participates in WIC mandated initiatives such as voter registration and immunization data collection and computer input. Participates in community outreach services and community/faith-based initiatives. Performs all duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Service Excellence.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Interviews patient or patient’s representative to obtain necessary personal and financial data to determine eligibility for WIC.
  • Performs client intake and certification services (including voter registration and WIC rights & Obligations) in accordance with WIC policies and procedures.
  • Issues WIC benefits in accordance with WIC policies and procedures.
  • Inputs all WIC related data into WIC database, as required.
  • Makes face-to-face and telephone appointments using both the WOW scheduler and the site specific appointment template.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Must have three (3) full years of clerical experience performing data entry activities, database maintenance and general office services support, preferably in a health care services setting.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have good communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • The ability to speak Spanish or Creole, is an asset.
