Essential Job Duties:
Are you a detail-oriented leader with a passion for logistics and food service operations? NC State Dining is seeking a Purchasing & Logistics Supervisor for Fountain Dining Hall, our highest-volume residential dining operation.
In this critical role, you will ensure a seamless, high-quality dining experience for more than 4,000 daily guests. You will be responsible for accurate menu forecasting, precise food and supply ordering, and efficient stockroom management. By leveraging historical data and the NetMenu system, you will play a pivotal part in controlling costs, supporting campus sustainability goals, and meeting the varied dietary needs of our Wolfpack community.
Additionally, you will lead, mentor, and inspire a dedicated team of four stockroom employees, fostering accountability and teamwork in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory & Purchasing Management: Oversee the procurement of all food, beverage, and kitchen supplies. Maintain optimal inventory levels to eliminate shortages while minimizing waste.
- Forecasting & System Utilization: Utilize the NetMenu system and historical data to generate accurate menu forecasts, ensuring production is balanced and aligned with daily guest volume.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and schedule a team of four stockroom employees. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high performance.
- Financial & Sustainability Controls: Implement strategic ordering practices to control food costs, manage budgets, and actively support NC State’s campus sustainability initiatives.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure the stockroom and receiving areas strict adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and OSHA standards.
- Vendor & Delivery Logistics: Coordinate with vendors and distributors for accurate, timely deliveries. Inspect incoming goods for quality, temperature, and order accuracy.

Minimum Experience/Education:
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of supervisory experience in the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Work independently and collaboratively with staff and culinary professionals.
- Requires bending, twisting, pulling and pushing. Because of the nature of food service operations and working in a kitchen, you must be able to work in extremely hot and cold conditions. Must be able to lift 30 pounds above head and up to 60 pounds on rare occasions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Food service, menu management or culinary experience; with an expert understanding of food safety, allergens, and dietary restrictions.
- Previous work experience ordering food and/or supplies and managing inventory, for a large food service entity, using a food service management system, such as NetMenu, CBORD, etc.
- Knowledge and proficiency with computer systems, specifically spreadsheets, and databases; that includes a strong attention to detail, accuracy, and timely data entry.
- Ability to make independent decisions.
- Lead and supervise teams.
