Summary of Position

Provide food services support by utilizing efficient inventory controls and maintaining sanitary Dining Services storage areas. This
is a full-time, 12-month position beginning on July 2026. The normal schedule is Monday-Friday, 5:00 am-1:30 pm, days off will be Saturday
and Sunday.

Required Education

High school diploma or GED
equivalency.

Required Work Experience

Two years of full-time equivalent experience in large commercial or
institutional food service in capacities such as receiving clerk or cook, or in restaurant management.

Required Licenses and
Certifications

Valid Michigan driver’s license
Must obtain within 10 business days of hire and retain during the entire
time in the assignment a Current Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT physical card) issued by a certified medical examiner listed on the
National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Clean assigned areas as needed, including sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, and washing.

Communicate errors,
overages/shortages to management.

Complete vendor complaint forms as necessary.

Follow the thaw schedule and provide food and
food service supplies from requisitions and inventory transfers generated by the computerized menu management system.
Interact with
customers and staff in a polite, friendly, and courteous manner.

Maintain stock levels of all items as indicated by requirements
and/or modifications generated from the computerized menu management system.

Maintain store room, receiving dock, storage
refrigerators, and freezers in a clean, orderly, neat, and sanitary condition.

Perform the work of other Dining Service
classifications when assigned.

Perform weekly physical inventory, input data, and review inventory analysis as per departmental
policies, utilizing the computerized menu management system.

Pick up and deliver food service supplies, stock finished products, and
inter-departmental mail.

Provide input to maintain accurate average weekly consumption numbers.

Receive, unpack, verify
quality and quantity, rotate, and store food and food service supplies, following departmental policies.

Review purchase
requirements; modify deliveries after receiving management approval.

Update and maintain inventory sequence, inventory unit,
etc.

Verify items, quantities, and prices received against purchase orders and invoices.

Maintain safety and sanitation
standards in all duties and responsibilities.

Report to the immediate supervisor.

Train and direct student employees in
performing the characteristic duties.

Carry out these responsibilities in accordance with University policies and applicable laws.

Operates a university or personal vehicle safely while carrying out job responsibilities. Will authorize, pursuant to university
policies and procedures, a driving record check, and will meet the driving authorization requirements through the course of employment in a
position where you are authorized to drive a vehicle as part of our duties.

Marginal Duties/Responsibilities

Remove trash, break down cardboard
boxes, and assist in the University recycling efforts.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to communicate
effectively.
Ability to interact with the public in a friendly, polite, and courteous manner.
Be familiar with the types of
commercial/institutional food service items, such as meats, canned goods, produce, and dairy products.
Maintain detailed written
records.
Operate a personal computer, inputting and retrieving data; facsimile, copier, and calculator, able to use a computerized menu
management system.
Perform mathematical computations with a high degree of accuracy.
Read, understand, and follow recipes, directions,
safety labels, equipment operations manuals, etc.
Take physical inventory.
Work harmoniously with others in variable temperatures,
confined spaces, noise, and stressful situations and workloads.
Work independently and exercise sound judgment.
Ability to perform
repetitive tasks.
Demonstrated successful experience working directly with people from diverse backgrounds, including cultural,
educational, socioeconomic, and life experiences
