Northwest’s Dining Services is seeking a Part Time Cashiers. The Cashier serves as the front-line representative of Dining Services,
processing customer transactions accurately and efficiently while delivering a welcoming guest experience. Key responsibilities include
operating point-of-sale systems, processing meal plan and payment transactions, maintaining a clean and organized checkout environment, and
upholding university food service standards. This position plays an important role in the daily rhythm of dining operations and the overall
satisfaction of students, faculty, and staff.
Work Hours: Approximately 19 hours/week

Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate a point-of-sale (POS) system, accurately scanning items,
processing payments (cash, credit, and campus meal plan cards), and handling cash drawers, including end-of-shift cash drawer reconciliation
and reporting of discrepancies to the Dining Services Lead or manager on duty. - Greet customers warmly, answer questions about menu
items, and resolve concerns efficiently to minimize wait times during busy service periods, while promoting Dining meal plan options and
communicating daily specials or promotional offerings. - Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the cashier station, condiment
areas, and adjacent dining spaces - Assist with stocking and rotating merchandise as directed.
- Assist in monitoring dining
room cleanliness, including tables, chairs, and common areas, and communicate needs to the appropriate team member or manager on duty. - Adhere to university food service safety standards (HACCP) and campus policies, including verifying student identification for meal plan
usage, accurately tracking declining balance transactions, and reporting suspected misuse to a supervisor.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience
- Prior customer service or cash handling experience is a plus.
- On-the-job training provided.
- Experience with PNW
Dining Services is preferred.
Core Competencies
- Ability to accurately handle cash, calculate
change, and process electronic and meal plan transactions. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work
efficiently in a fast-paced environment. - Must be able to push, pull, lift and carry 25 to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs.
