Job Summary

Purdue University
Northwest’s Dining Services is seeking Part Time Food Service Workers to support the daily operations by preparing, serving, and maintaining
food service areas across campus dining locations. Key responsibilities include food preparation, counter and steam table service, adherence
to food safety and sanitation standards, and providing friendly, efficient service to students, faculty, and staff. This position is
essential to delivering a high-quality dining experience that reflects the standards of Dining Services.

Work hours: Approximately 19
hours/week

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting with washing,
    cutting, and preparing ingredients for meals, salads, and sandwiches, following standardized recipes and production sheets as directed.
  • Labeling and dating prepped items per food safety requirements.
  • Serving food from counters or steam tables, ensuring proper
    portion control and following dietary restrictions.
  • Maintaining awareness of allergen information and communicating dietary
    accommodation needs to the culinary team.
  • Replenishing service lines as needed.
  • Cleaning and sterilizing utensils,
    equipment, and work areas, including sweeping, mopping, and washing dishes.
  • Following dishwashing and ware-washing procedures.
  • Maintaining temperature logs and completes daily cleaning checklists.
  • Greeting customers, taking orders, and answering
    questions in a friendly and professional manner, representing Leo’s Dining with care.
  • Directing students with questions about meal
    plans or dietary needs to the appropriate team member.
  • Adhering to food safety guidelines (e.g., HACCP).
  • Maintaining
    correct food temperatures, and using proper protective equipment.
  • Completing required food handler training and certification.
  • Participating in safety briefings.
  • Reporting unsafe conditions to a supervisor.

Education

  • High school diploma/GED preferred

Experience

  • Prior food service, restaurant, or
    cafeteria experience is a plus.
  • On-the-job training provided.
  • Experience with PNW Dining Services is preferred.

Core Competencies

  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to stand for
    extended periods of time
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift and carry 25 to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally.
  • Knowledge of basic food safety practices required.
