Job Description Summary:

The Bookstore Clerk provides excellent customer
service for all customer needs and purchases. The Clerk also assists in the process of ordering, receiving, pricing and stocking
merchandise.

It is expected that this individual will accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective, competent manner and
strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, this individual must understand the comprehensive role of the
community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with college personnel and the public. This individual will follow all college
policies, rules, regulations and guidelines as they relate to this position

PRIMARY DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use computer program to process financial aid, agency and department charges while maintaining the
    confidentiality and security of protected student information on accordance with FERPA regulations.
  • Checks in and stocks books
    and other merchandise; assures that all orders have been filled according to purchase requisitions and that the proper prices are affixed
    and that the packing slips are verified.
  • Assists Bookstore customers in locating materials and by serving as a cashier; makes
    change accurately and properly accounts for financial transactions at the end of each working day.
  • Assists with the annual
    Bookstore inventory.
  • Becomes familiar with the point of sale, Winprism systems of the Bookstore; processes related paperwork in
    accordance with approved procedures.
  • Help keep bookstore clean to assure professional image and merchandise displayed in an
    appealing manner. Also, relocation of stock when needed.

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains an
    inventory of all assigned equipment and supplies, keeping proper records as necessary.
  • Safeguards institutional physical
    resources by caring properly for assets assigned to the workstation and by prohibiting unauthorized use.
  • Performs other related
    duties as required.
  • Adjustment of hours involving evening and/or weekend work may be required.

    Minimum
    Qualifications:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    1. High School Diploma or GED
    2. Experience in
      retail sales or in another position that involved significant contact with the public and handling a significant amount of cash, preferably
      in a collegiate environment.

    Knowledge of:

    Principles and practices of PC’s and related software, e.g.
    Outlook

    How to operate a POS system

    General cashiering duties

    Point of sale,
    Winprism systems

    Microsoft Office Programs

    Telephone practices and
    procedures

    Knowledge of general office duties including filing

    Knowledge of proper lifting
    techniques

    Ability to:

    Communicate effectively verbally and in writing

    Operate a
    PC and related software

    Maintain effective working relationships with other people

    Perform basic
    arithmetic calculations

    Handle money responsibly

    Operate bookstore
    equipment

    Maintain professional, congenial, and confidential skills when dealing with others

    Work
    independently and in a team environment

    Work in a multitasking environment under pressure
