Hours of work may vary dependent upon situational factors, emergencies, and crisis management requiring evening(s), weekend(s), and holiday(s) response.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Utilities Systems Manager, this position:
- Leads the automation and controls engineering team overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of controls systems for UK Campus and UK HealthCare
- Performs critical role in bridging technical system development with team leadership, vendor relations management, and plant operations
- Manages and provides support for the seamlessly integrated Building Automation System, including:
- installed Building Controls
- Graphical User Interface
- Swisslog
- Power Monitoring and Predictive Emissions Systems
- Critical Research Equipment
- Elevators
- Fire Alarm Systems
- Performs necessary communication, maintenance, upgrades, and programming
- Collaborates with Project Managers to add and complete new buildings/systems to the Building Automation System (BAS)
In addition, the Controls Engineering Manager:
- Ensures Controls Engineering standards and requirements are met and/or exceeded in accordance with established procedures and processes
- Directly supervises assigned staff and maintains appropriate staffing levels, including hires, promotions, transfers, separations, etc.
- Encourages staff to maintain personally challenging achievement goals and to exert effort toward mastering tasks
- Proactively assists staff in reaching and obtaining their goals and objectives.
- Promotes teamwork and a positive work environment
- Strives for continuous improvement in all activities and work performance for self and others
Internal Employee Being Considered
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
MS Windows/Office; MS Project; SAP; KRONOS
Driver’s License – Preferred
Deep proficiency in PLC platforms and motion control; Demonstrated experience in technical leadership; integrated machine control systems; system architecture and standardization; Controls and automation deliverable; Familiarity with functional safety standards; Vendor management.

Bachelor’s Degree + 6 Years
Tridium Certification – Preferred
Certified Controls Engineer (CCE) – Desirable
Certified Senior Controls Engineer (CSCE) – Desirable
