Tech reporter Herrera departs WSJ

Sebastian Herrera, who covered technology for The Wall Street Journal from the San Francisco area, with a focus on Microsoft, artificial intelligence and cloud computing, has left the newspaper.

He wrote about how AI is transforming the way people work and live, its promises and risks and the infrastructure that underpins the technology. He also reported on how tech leaders are shaping Silicon Valley and beyond.

Previously, Herrera worked at the Austin American-Statesman, where he wrote about the city’s booming tech scene, Austin-based Whole Foods Market and startups. He also has worked as a reporter for the Houston Chronicle, where he often wrote human interest stories and reported on the region’s large population of immigrants, education and suburban news.

His reporting has shed light on the power of large tech companies, how advanced technologies are shaping our future and the plights of everyday people. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin
