Job Description
Tennessee State University Department of Center of Excellence
Learning Sciences invites applications for the position of Cook 1.
The ideal candidate will be responsible
for the following:
- Responsible for meal, snack, and other food preparation and clean up at center based Early Head Start
program serving infants and toddlers. - Responsible for all food inventory and nutrition paperwork.
- Responsible for welfare,
health, and safety of all children. - Must demonstrate proper hygiene in food preparation. Prepares food in compliance with approved
menus provided by a Registered Dietician. - Requests pre-approval for changes to menus to Health Coordinator before preparing.
- Makes sure all meals served meet USDA requirements in size and content. Maintains easily accessible file for children with food
allergies. - Keeps inventory of nutritional supplies and submit to Health Coordinator on monthly basis.
- Maintains cleaning
of all food preparation equipment, counter top, stove, refrigerator, and garbage cans. - Occasional duties of cleaning of toys,
relieving staff for breaks, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and sanitation. - Maintains communication with supervisor and
parents. - Completes First Aid and Infant CPR training as scheduled.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a minimum of the eighth grade; Experience in food preparation and
nutrition management services. Must meet all required health and safety requirements i.e. physical, tb skin test, safe food handling
requirements, USDA requirements, etc; Knowledge of food safety regulations desired; Must possess a valid TN driver
license.
