JOB OVERVIEW:
Catawba
College (“Catawba”) seeks a Registered Nurse (preferred) to effectively oversee the daily operations of the Proctor Health Center. The
Health Center Manager will participate in all aspects of the operation of the Proctor Student Health Center including providing health care
and health education to the Catawba College community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations Management
& Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day health center operations, including coordinating with provider schedules to ensure adequate
coverage is present in the Health Center. To include but not limited to the following duties:
- Provides primary medical
care to the student community and responds to the basic health needs of students. - Prepares for and responds to on campus medical
crisis or emergencies; provides health and wellness advising. - Interacts with health care agencies and professionals as necessary;
maintains resources of area health care providers and other medical resources and emergency services information. - Coordinates the
College’s blood drives and health fairs, and health and wellness programs/events as directed.
- Ensure efficient use of
resources, facilities, and medical equipment/supplies - Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures
to improve service quality within the Health Services Center and greater Student Affairs Division.
Compliance & Risk
Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, OSHA, etc.)
- Coordinates the College’s Immunization process in collaboration with the Registrar’s office.
- Ensure all
students have met the requirements of admission to the College regarding the submission of all health certification and immunization forms
mandated by North Carolina Law. - Maintain accurate medical records and ensure confidentiality of protected health information in
accordance with HIPPA. - Monitor safety protocols and infection control procedures within the Student Health Center.
Budgeting & Financial Oversight
- Implement and manage the Student Health Center budget.
- Monitor
expenditures and billing processes for incoming expenses and contracts.
Student Health & Wellness Programs
- Coordinate health education initiatives including health education outreach, vaccination drives, and other wellness campaigns
- Collaborate with campus departments to promote mental and physical health and wellness.
- Respond to public health concerns and
emergencies on campus as directed by the local Health Department.
Collaboration & Communication
- Foster a
collaborative, student-centered, trauma-informed work environment
- Collaborates with others within the College community,
including, but not limited to, Security, Facilities, Residence Life, and academic departments to identify and organize the emergency
evacuation of students with disabilities.
- Serve as liaison between the Student Health Center and Campus Leadership.
- Develop and maintain a working relationship with local health care provider agencies within the local community.
- Communicate
effectively with students, staff, and external stakeholders
JOB REQUIREMENTS/CRITICAL SKILLS & EXPERTISE:
The
minimum job requirements and critical skills and expertise for this position are:
Education:
- Graduate of an
accredited nursing school, have and maintain current licensure in the State of North Carolina, meet the NCBON requirements for state
licensure, and possess current CPR and AED certifications.
Experience:
- 3-5+ years of healthcare
management or clinical operations experience - Experience in a college or university setting preferred
- Experience in
navigating emergency situations
Skills:
- Strong leadership and organizational abilities
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Budget
management and strategic planning skills - Knowledge of equipment needed to perform duties to include autoclave, venipuncture, CLIA
waived tests, Immunization administration, otoscope, ophthalmoscope, Blood Pressure equipment, Nebulizer, AED.
