Position Summary
The Central Production Retail & Catering Coordinator supports the catering operations within Residential Dining Services and plays a key customer-facing role for retail and catering inquiries, event logistics, and service execution. This position communicates with clients via email, phone, and in person; generates invoices; processes payments; and helps coordinate menu management, point-of-sale systems, HACCP documentation, and conference services. The Coordinator oversees student staff, assists with sustainability initiatives, supports training and development, and recommends updates to operating procedures to ensure efficient, high-quality retail and catering services across the Central Production Kitchen.

Work Unit
Housing & Dining Services (HDS) is one of the largest departments on campus and is responsible for the management, finance, administration, and program development of all University housing facilities, including residence halls, university apartments, and Mountain Campus.
Essential Job Duties:
- Serve as the first point of contact for the Central Production Retail & Catering operation, responding to customer inquiries and determining the best course of action.
- Provide onsite and offsite support for catered events; maintain historical records of event outcomes; and serve as liaison for summer dining conferences.
- Process catering invoices and payments, generate reports, place supply/food orders, and maintain food safety and quality-assurance records.
- Recommend updates to standard operating procedures for the Central Production facilities.
- Oversee student employees-including up to four student managers-and provide onboarding, training, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Support sustainability efforts, such as Ram Food Recovery participation.
- Perform administrative support tasks, run unit errands, and participate in committees, meetings, and search processes as assigned.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Conditions of Employment:

Supervision:
Direct supervision of Residential Dining Services student staff, including student hourlies and up to four student managers (~ 8 FTE per week).
Minimum Qualifications :
Minimum Required Degree:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Restaurant/Hospitality Management or related field
- OR high school diploma/equivalent plus two years of general clerical experience in catering operation
Minimum Years of Experience and/or Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple events simultaneously, manage changing priorities, and maintain attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and event schedules as required for catering operations.
- Valid US Driver’s License for the last 3 years
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of experience in catering event planning and execution
- Experience with HACCP, ServSafe, or comparable food safety programs.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and related administrative software systems.
- Experience leading student or cross-functional teams with strong customer service skills.
- Experience supporting sustainability initiatives such as composting, waste reduction, or similar efforts.

Salary Range
$60,000 – $64,000
