About AFIT
The Air Force Institute of
Technology (AFIT) houses the U.S. Air Force’s graduate school for engineering and management. AFIT provides a
distinctive academic environment that integrates rigorous scholarship with applied, high-impact research in support of
national security and operational readiness.
AFIT faculty work with a highly capable and selectively drawn graduate student
population composed primarily of Air Force officers and federal civilian professionals, many of whom bring significant
operational and technical experience to their studies.
The Institute offers extensive opportunities for faculty to develop
and sustain research programs in collaboration with Air Force organizations and other national-level partners. These
partnerships provide access to well-defined problem areas, operationally relevant datasets, and a consistent pipeline of
sponsored research, particularly in areas such as contested logistics, supply chain resilience, and data-driven decision-making
in uncertain environments.
AFIT’s close integration with operational stakeholders enables faculty to produce research
that is both academically rigorous and practically relevant, with a clear pathway to implementation and transition into practice.
AFIT is located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in the Dayton, Ohio region-a hub for aerospace, engineering, and applied
research, and a central node in the Air Force sustainment and logistics enterprise. The region offers strong opportunities
