Overview
Oversee the EMT’s for the Office of Public Safety and provide support for policy and procedure development and accreditation management. Support comprehensive Emergency Management operations for the campus community.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the state recognized PC EMS Service Chief and have responsibility for all Rhode Island licensed ambulance service requirements as defined by Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) regulations. Attend all required RIDOH Center for Emergency Services (CEM) leadership trainings, policy meetings, compliance sessions, and related activities to ensure ongoing licensure and alignment with statewide standards. Develop and manage EMT skills instructors. Manage all course assessments, evaluations, and documentation. (40%)
- Ensure compliance with national and state regulations (RIDOH, CEMS), and college EMS policies and procedures governing patient care, transport decisions, and documentation for the EMT staff. Provide guidance, mentorship, and feedback that supports high-quality, evidence-based care. (20%)
- Provide direct supervision of all EMT’s during operations, training sessions, special details, athletic events, and campus functions. Conduct routine checks of personnel, equipment, and medications. Monitor hours worked and conduct annual performance evaluations. (20%)
- Directly support comprehensive Emergency Management operations for the entire campus community. Facilitate planning, development, and maintenance of an all-hazards emergency operations plan (EOP) in alignment with national, state, and campus-specific requirements. (10%)
- Serve as the accreditation manager and assist in the development of policies and procedures. Facilitate accreditation management efforts to achieve and maintain accreditations through Rhode Island Police Accreditation Commission (RIPAC) and the Emergency Management Accreditation Program’s (EMAP) standards. (10%)
MARGINAL DUTIES:
- Perform all other duties as may be required.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required.
- Minimum of five years ALS provider experience in Rhode Island and supervisory/management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current 911 experience; actively practicing
- Experience in non-profit or volunteer service management
- Experience working with youth, preferably college age
- Teaching and curriculum development skills
- Computer reporting functionality and Google applications preferred
- Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to multitask
- Professionalism, maturity, and demonstrated leadership skills
- Ability to communicate accurately and promptly and take direction as appropriate
- RI ALS Provider active license (AEMT-C or Paramedic), RI Instructor Coordinator active license, ICS 100, 200, 300, 400; NIMs 700, 800; BLS Provider active certification, Emergency vehicle operator certification.
