Part-time Lecturer/Mentor
Position

Global Economics
and Management Group

The
Global Economics and Management (GEM) Group at the MIT Sloan School of
Management invites applications for
the role of Lecturer, with
an appointment
effective September 1, 2026. Applicants selected for this position will play a
key role in
enhancing our graduate students’
academic experience by
collaborating with the MIT Sloan GEM faculty and the Action Learning Office
(ALO) to
advance learning through a
variety of project-based learning or “lab”
courses. The lecturer hired for this role will serve as a “mentor” or
team
coach, advising
students and their team, supporting them in advancing their
work on real-world business problems for sponsoring host
companies. The role of
lecturer/mentor includes supporting graduate student teams by sharing business
subject matter expertise, prior work
experience including, if
appropriate,
international engagement, as well as assisting students in navigating
interpersonal and team dynamics.
Although mentors usually
have some subject
matter expertise, their most important and primary role is that of coach or advisor
for the
MIT Sloan MBAs and other
graduate students
. This appointment will
be compensated for at the rate of $2700 per four-person team, per
academic
term.

Candidates
should have a minimum of 10 years of supervisory experience, with expertise in
one or more of the
following areas: strategic
management consulting, human
resources management, entrepreneurship, organizational design, technology, or
supply
chain management.
Candidates must demonstrate strong organizational,
interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; an ability to
work in a
matrixed
environment with a broad range of internal and external constituents.
Experience in higher education, as well as
successful experience
teaching a
diverse and multicultural student population, is highly desirable. Candidates must
be willing to work some
evenings and weekends
as needed. Familiarity with MIT
Sloan faculty and/or MIT faculty is helpful. Relevant formal education is
preferred.

The
Global
Economics and Management Group include faculty with interests in
international economics, political economy, economic
history, and
international
management and business. Our group is part of the Behavioral and Policy
Sciences Area, one of three major
research areas at
MIT Sloan.
