Posting Summary
Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a Regional Scheduler to work at Northern State Prison, located in Newark, New Jersey. Under the guidance of the Administrator, the Regional Scheduler processes all consultation requests and related documentation for the facility. The position will interface with the Statewide Ombudsperson on concerns elevated to a state level.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
- Processes all consultation request forms and related paperwork for the facilities, including but not limited to:
- Entries of consultation requests into the Inmate Eligibility System.
- All scheduling functions for the consultation request including those for on-site clinic appointments and for off-site appointments.
- Arranges the appropriate transportation of patients for appointments.
- Reviews and investigates inmate grievances related to healthcare, through medical record review and personal interviews with inmates and staff. Finalizes investigation with a written report to be distributed according to policy and procedure.
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Education and Experience
- High School graduate required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of medical office or hospital experience including medical records clerical duties.
- Experience maintaining confidential relationships.
Certifications/Licenses
- Valid driver’s license is required. Must possess own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and Outlook is preferred.
Special Conditions
Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements.
