Position Summary:
The Assistant Director for the Ferguson Student Union serves as a member of the Department of
Campus Life and provides leadership for the daily operations of the Ferguson Student Union. This position oversees scheduling, coordinates
maintenance and facility needs, supervises student staff, and supports programming and event initiatives that engage students,
faculty/staff, alumni, the campus and surrounding community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the daily management of the Ferguson Student Union.
Work in conjunction with the Associate Dean for Campus Life
and Director of the Ferguson Student Union for developing all budgets and oversees the fiscal management for the Ferguson Student Union.
Develop and implement policies and procedures for the Ferguson Student Union.
Plan and implement programs, events, and initiatives
to engage students, faculty/staff, alumni, and the campus community.
Hire, train, and supervise part-time student staff to be
effective front-line support staff, ensuring safety, courtesy, care, and efficiency in all operations.
Assist University Events staff
with coordination of student labor needed to set-up and take down university events.
Implement summer programming and event
opportunities to maximize Ferguson Student Union usage and engage students, alumni, faculty/staff, the campus and surrounding community,
such as camps and conferences.
Serve as the primary point of contact for student organizations, departments, and related support
staff, reserving space for functions within the Ferguson Student Union.
Coordinate with departmental leadership and other university
departments on space use for campus programs and events.
Responsible for the effective use of building-wide digital signage.
Oversee inventory, repairs and maintenance, interior and exterior cleanliness, and related building supplies.
Provide direct
oversight for the Annual Miss Tech Scholarship Pageant.
Design and implement assessment and evaluation strategies for the Ferguson
Student Union.
Collaborate with colleagues in the Division of Student Affairs and across campus to support and ensure retention and
student success.
Engage in strategic planning to continually improve student services by evaluating current programs’ effectiveness
and proposing innovative ideas to address evolving student needs.
Collaborate with faculty and staff across campus to support student
engagement and success.
Other duties as assigned.

actively participate as a member of the Campus Life departmental team by engaging in discussion, giving feedback and updates, and providing
creative and innovative ideas to move the department forward.
Ability to manage multiple projects.
Detail-oriented and the
ability to prioritize.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree.
Budget management
experience.
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience presenting to small
and large groups.
Strong desire to support and develop college students.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, student affairs, or related field.
Experience with
building management, student staff supervision, and large-scale event planning.
Work experience in a Student Union (or related) on a
college campus.
Marketing and promotion experience.
Experience with assessment and evaluations practices.
Working
knowledge of trends and practices in Student Affairs.
Work Location, Environment, and Physical Demands:
Position
is required to maintain office hours within the Department of Campus Life (Monday-Friday 8a.m.-5p.m.).
After hours and weekend work
will be necessary during peak usage times to administer programs and events.
On-call for emergencies and crisis situations.
Occasional after hours calls related to event management.
