About the Job

This a full-time, 9-month position starting at $23.35 per hour working in the Department of Dining Services starting in August 2027. This position reports to the Sodexo Dining Service’s General Manager. Must be also willing to work holidays and overtime when necessary. This position is represented by the Teamsters Local 320 Bargaining Unit.

The Promotional Priority Period for current Teamster applicants begins 5/26/26 and 6/2/26.

Position Responsibilities

This position is responsible for general food production and service following appropriate food safety and sanitation standards on the University of Minnesota Crookston campus. These duties include but are not limited:

  • Assembles products to service including front line finish product cooking
  • Serves food and maintains points of service and beverage stations for product and cleanliness
  • Prepares fresh produce
  • Assists cooks and senior food service workers as assigned
  • Cuts, plates, and assembles products to service
  • Prepares simple recipes
  • Operates and prepares products using various kitchen equipment and utensils including induction burners, ovens, grills, fryers, mechanical cutting equipment, mixers and knives
  • Complete food production records and reporting
  • Prepares and services branded products according to brand specifications following specific recipes and portion control
  • Prepares coffee, espresso based beverages, smoothies, etc
  • Label food products with allergens and ingredient labels
  • Participates in training and assigning tasks to student employees and new food service workers
  • Puts away food and supplies
  • Completes daily, weekly and monthly cleaning as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Relevant experience or education in large food operations or quantity food production. Experience requirements vary by assignment.
  • Ability to accurately perform recipe conversion calculations.
  • Ability to speak, read, and/or write English may be required based on location.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of safe knife handling skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of HACCP procedures

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $23.35 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75% Appointment
