Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a competent clinician who is experienced, knowledgeable, and skilled in specialty areas. Function effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team, with practice characterized by primarily interdependent decision-making. Care delivery is problem-focused yet patient-centered. Demonstrates the ability to manage unexpected or emergency situations commonly encountered within the assigned specialty population. Serves as a resource for nursing staff and can manage contingency situations frequently arising on the clinical unit.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
Identifies nursing diagnosis/patient care needs, individualizes care plan, and revises care plan as needed.
Minimum Required Education/Experience
- Graduation from an accredited Registered Nurse Program
- EMR experience
- Two (2) years clinical experience as RN
- A combination of education and experience may be considered
Required Certifications/Licenses
- Must posses and maintain a current RN license or compact RN license to practice in Texas.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current BLS certification
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current SAMA training
Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and medical equipment such as I.V. pumps, portable oxygen, fluids, etc.
- Advanced specialized nursing skills as appropriate to the nature of medical activity.
- Effectual knowledge and understanding of all protocols and procedures within the specified clinic environment.
- Show competency in point of care testing and quality requirements for that testing.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, both in person and over the phone.
- Proven track record in the development of quality clinical services.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
- Decisive ability to interact with patients in a calm and positive manner.
- Distinct capacity to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Demonstrated flexibility and initiative in a dynamic work environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues efficiently.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
