Job Summary

Facilities Management

Direct/Manage/Supervise Oversee the operation and maintenance of assigned university facilities within a designated department, ensuring
compliance with all policies, regulations, and safety standards. Supervise staff and vendors, including scheduling, performance management,
and quality oversight. Coordinate preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance to ensure timely and effective service delivery. Develop
and implement maintenance plans, manage budgets, and support procurement and contract administration. Collaborate with department
stakeholders, serving as a primary point of contact for department needs and ensuring a high level of customer service. Conduct regular
inspections to maintain standards, support operational decision-making, and maintain an understanding of how departmental facilities
operations support the University of Utah’s mission.

Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) with up to 2 years of directly related
work experience or a master’s (or equivalency) degree. Assumes work equivalency (1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of
directly related work experience).

Responsibilities
Supervisor, Facilities Management Oversees the
maintenance and operation of buildings, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing. This includes all MEP staff, vendors, coordinating repairs,
developing preventative maintenance plans, and managing budgets for building maintenance. They also play a role in ensuring compliance with
regulations and safety standards, as well as coordinating with other departments and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hiring, training, and managing MEP personnel, including performance appraisals and disciplinary actions.
  • Manage payroll &
    absence management
  • Ensures PM and CM completion
  • Manage staff schedules (on call, overtime, event schedules, etc)
  • Ensures quality of PMs and Work Performed by Staff.

Customer Service:

  • Collaborating with other university departments,
    project managers, and external contractors on maintenance and construction projects.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure
    standards are consistently met
  • Regularly meet with customers to make sure their needs are being met
  • Act as point of
    contact for building managers, resolving maintenance related issues.
  • Develop, solicit, and manage long term maintenance
    contracts
  • Ensure all contracts comply with legal, regulatory, and corporate standards.
  • Maintain accurate and organized
    contract databases; ensure timely updates and audits.

Manager Tasks:

  • Coordinating Repairs and Maintenance – Overseeing the
    scheduling and completion of repairs, preventative maintenance, and emergency maintenance on building assets.
  • Developing and
    Implementing Maintenance Plans – Creating and executing plans to ensure maintenance tasks are performed regularly in order to maintain the
    University maintenance standards.
  • Managing Budgets – Developing and managing budgets for building maintenance, including labor,
    materials, and equipment
  • Ensuring Compliance – Ensuring that all building maintenance activities comply with relevant regulations,
    safety standards, and university policies and that employees are properly trained.
  • Assist and fill in for peers as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of
directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire
employee at one of the following job levels:

Supervisor, Facilities Management: Requires a bachelor’s (or
equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master’s (or equivalency)
degree.
