Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, a leading institution recognized for excellence in smart learning, higher education, and innovation, invites applications for the position of Associate Professor/Professor in Operational Management & Quality with PhD Supervision Experience on a non-resident full-time basis.
The position supports the university’s Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Quality Management program and contributes to advancing research, innovation, and scholarly excellence in operational management, quality management, and organizational excellence within a smart learning environment.
Non-resident faculty appointments are full-time roles that allow candidates to teach, conduct research, and engage in service remotely from outside the UAE while, fully participating in HBMSU’s online learning environment and contribute to academic service, and mentor students. These faculty members reside outside the UAE and contribute to our mission entirely through digital platforms. Teaching is delivered fully online – whether asynchronous or synchronous – allowing them to engage with learners across borders. Non-Resident Faculty actively participate in faculty meetings, committees, and training sessions virtually, ensuring strong collaboration despite the distance. They are expected to produce impactful research in their specific areas, mentor students, and contribute to academic service, with all responsibilities carried out remotely. Community involvement is fostered through regular virtual participation in campus events and initiatives, enabling them to remain an integral part of HBMSU’s vibrant academic network while working from abroad. Applicants must be familiar with online teaching platforms and methodologies and be dedicated to supporting HBMSU’s mission of transforming learning through technology and innovation.

About the PhD Program:
The PhD in Quality Management at Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University prepares scholars and professionals to address organizational, societal, and global challenges through advanced research in quality management, operational excellence, innovation, sustainability, AI applications, and data-driven decision-making. The program equips graduates for leadership roles in academia, government, industry, and consulting through a strong focus on research excellence, smart learning, and applied innovation.
Main roles & responsibilities
The successful candidate will drive academic and research excellence through:
- Teaching: Delivering graduate-level courses in:
- Quantitative Research Methods and Statistics
- Service Quality and Excellence
- Implementation and Applications of Quality Management
- Seminar in Quality Management
- Curriculum Development: Updating course content to reflect trends such as AI-driven operations, and Quality Management among others.
- Research: Publishing in high-impact journals (Scopus/WoS-indexed) and show ability to obtain research funding
- Mentorship: Supervising PhD candidates through all stages of dissertation work.
- Service: Contribute to program accreditation efforts, fostering industry partnerships, and enhancing program visibility through academic and professional networks.
Required qualification & skills
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in at least one of the listed areas from an AACSB-accredited university
- Candidates should demonstrate strong scholarly preparation with the ability to teach and publish effectively in English.
- Strong record of research or clear evidence of research potential
- Must meet the AACSB academic qualification criteria
- Ability to teach and engage learners effectively in online advanced academic programs
