Position Summary
The Part-Time Sales Associate supports daily retail operations in a college campus store by
delivering excellent customer service, maintaining merchandise presentation, and assisting with sales transactions. This role plays a key
part in creating a welcoming shopping experience for students, faculty, alumni, and campus visitors.
Key
Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly,
professional manner - Answer questions about merchandise, including textbooks, apparel, and school supplies
- Resolve customer
concerns or direct them to a supervisor when needed
Sales & Transactions
- Operate the
point-of-sale (POS) system to process purchases, returns, and exchanges - Promote store products, seasonal items, and campus
merchandise - Support sales goals through upselling and product recommendations
Merchandising &
Stocking
- Restock shelves and maintain organized displays
- Assist with receiving shipments and pricing
merchandise - Ensure store cleanliness and visual standards are maintained
Operations
Support
- Follow store policies and procedures, including loss prevention practices
- Assist during
high-volume periods such as back-to-school and graduation - Support opening and closing duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus, but
not required - Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic math skills and comfort handling transactions
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and peak campus periods
