Position Title: Nursing Simulation Coordinator.
Department: Nursing.
Classification: Non-Exempt.
FTE: 0.50.
Work Schedule: 40 hours a week during the Fall and Spring term. Off during academic breaks.
Salary Range: $34,000 – $38,000.

Position Overview:
The Simulation Coordinator supports the planning, delivery, and evaluation of simulation-based education for nursing students. This role manages the simulation center, prepares and operates simulation equipment, assists faculty with scenario development, and ensures high-quality learning experiences that reflect current clinical practice. The Simulation Coordinator serves as the technical expert for manikins and audiovisual systems while also contributing to educational design and learner support.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Coordinate scheduling, inventory, and logistics for nursing simulations
  • Support faculty in developing, revising, and implementing simulation scenarios aligned with learning objectives.
  • Orient faculty to simulation equipment and best practice standards for simulations.
  • Orient students to the simulation center.
  • Maintain a calendar for all scheduled activities for use of the simulation requirement and simulation rooms.
  • Follow the recommended maintenance schedules dictated by the equipment manufacturers in a proactive manner.
  • Maintain the simulators by scheduling maintenance appointments and troubleshooting issues.
  • Maintain IT simulation equipment in simulation rooms in cooperation with IT.
  • Set up and maintain adequate inventory of all equipment and supplies, order supplies as needed.
  • Ensure the simulation rooms are kept clean and well ordered.
  • Engage students in active learning.
  • Demonstrate professional written and oral communication skills.
  • Utilize best practice in simulations.
  • Demonstrate innovative thinking to problem solve within the simulated setting.
  • Demonstrate respect and professionalism with supervisors, colleagues, and students.
  • Work with colleagues and students by practicing punctuality, respect for deadlines, collaborative problem solving, and honest communication,
  • Fosters collegiality within the department.
  • Timely completio0n of administrative aspects of instructional responsibilities.
  • Adhere to the policies of the college and the department.
  • Operate all technology during simulations.
  • Coordinate simulation set-up with all necessary stakeholders.
  • Utilize current evidence-based practice in simulations.
  • Create charting documents using Google.
  • Participate in annual professional development related to current best practices in simulation.
  • Work towards certification.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting and manipulation of objects 40 pounds or more with assistance.

Supervision Received and Exercised:

  • Reports to the Department Chair of Nursing.
  • This position does not supervise staff or students.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing (RN), Respiratory Therapy, Paramedic/EMS, or a related healthcare field.
  • Experience: At least one year of simulation experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in nursing education preferred.
  • Experience: 2+ years of teaching experience in a clinical simulation environment.

Prerequisites:

  • Employment in this position is conditioned upon successful completion of a background check which may include: criminal background checks, reference checks, verification of work history, verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications, a motor vehicle check, verification of DOT certification, a credit check, employment eligibility verification, and/or a pre-employment physical. Whether a background check is deemed successfully completed will be at the sole discretion of St. Olaf College.
