The Barnes Center is open Monday through Friday 8:30am- 5:00pm during the academic school year with a
rotating 10:00am to 4:00pm Saturday shift and Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm during the summer.

Job Description:

The LPN will work collaboratively with physicians, nurse
practitioners, physician assistants and other ancillary members of the Health Services Team to provide comprehensive and
holistic
clinical care for students illnesses, injuries, immunizations, and health education needs. Commonly performed clinical duties
include obtaining vital signs and patient histories, medication administration and injection, assisting providers with procedures (i.e.,
the procedures). sutures, I&D, IUD/Nexplanon insertion/removal)
, IV insertion/maintenance, and specimen
collection. The LPNs also ensure autoclave, and sterilization procedures are followed.

In addition to the clinical duties,
laboratory responsibilities include phlebotomy, specimen handling and point-of-care testing. The LPN will
be a 12-month position reporting directly to the Assistant Nurse Manager.”

Education and Experience:

  • LPN, licensed to practice in the state of New York.
  • 3+ years experience as an LPN,
    preferably in an ambulatory care setting.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • CPR
    certification.
  • Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Clinic Duties: Support primary care
    providers and other nurses by working collaboratively in rooming patients, obtaining patient histories, collecting vital signs, coordinating
    care (phone calls, appointment changes, referral assistance etc), administering medications & injections with proper orders, documenting
    clinical interactions in patient chart (EMR), assisting providers with womens pelvic exams or minor surgical
    procedures.
  • Laboratory Duties: phlebotomy, perform CLIA waived laboratory testing, Perform control testing
    for CLIA waived tests, tracking laboratory inventory, entering lab results in EMR,
    stocking lab supplies, handling of specimens (including use of centrifuge), liaison to reference laboratory to assure timeliness of service
    and results.
  • Other duties as assigned.
