Job Description

The Assistant Program Director, Clinical Simulation manages staff, resources and administrative processes to ensure that the goals and objectives of the program are accomplished.

This position is located in downtown Tampa at the USF Health Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation.

Responsibilities

30% Administration

  • Responsible for the daily administrative and operational duties relating to the simulation and bioskills labs. Provides management and oversight to ensure effective execution and compliance for department staffing, budgeting, and programming.
  • Develops and employs strategies to effectively collaborate across all departments, such as business development, accounting, scheduling education to facilitate new business, enhance existing business arrangements, manage budgeting, and ensure resources are available to support program coordination.
  • Develops operations systems to establish and maintain protocols; inventory management; safety procedures and risk management; department compliance
  • Develops and interprets policies and procedures; ensures compliance; and provides training to staff as needed. Enforces USF, HPCC, State of Florida and other relevant governing body guidelines and regulations. Creates and implements department goals that embody the CAMLS mission and vision statements. Establishes and demonstrates professional conduct and practices with internal and external clients.

30% Personnel Management

  • Provides effective leadership in the supervision, recruitment, and training of all full time and temporary employees within the simulation department. Serves as mentor to staff and establishes a work environment that fosters teamwork, communication, efficiency and effectiveness. Completes evaluations and identifies training and development opportunities for staff.
  • Responsible for managing temporary pools to ensure sufficient staffing, recruiting, efficiently and effectively scheduling to balance and supplement full time team as needed.

30% Coordination

  • Coordinate the scheduling of daily Simulation, Bioskills and In Situ activities by collaborating with relevant parties to include equipment, supplies and staffing
  • Responsible for project management of major initiatives through CAMLS project management and scheduling system.
  • Works with inter-professional groups to develop team scenarios as well as participates in research initiatives related to the mission of CAMLS.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to build scenario, establish standardized procedures, update faculty and staff on schedules and maintenance, and provide technical support and advice.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, innovation, implementation and integration.

10% Financial/Budgeting

  • Assists Director with annual budget preparation and manages costs against budget throughout year.
  • Responsible for inventory oversight and management; vendor relationships; collaborating with Finance to conduct audits; assist in purchasing capital equipment, manage budget expectations
  • Responsible for administration of proposal review; financial reconciliation; and reporting.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a field directly related to the program responsibilities and three years of professional experience; or Master’s degree and one year of professional experience.
  • Must have organizational leadership experience and managing others.

A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:

  • Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
  • Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree;
  • Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree;
  • Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
  • Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
