The Assistant Director of
Community Wellness supports all aspects of the PREP (Preventative and Rehabilitative Exercise Programs) initiative, including individual
wellness services, adaptive clinical classes, human performance testing, and educational programming. In addition, the assistant director
will support university wide wellness initiatives for both students and employees. This role helps ensure the delivery of high-quality
services while fostering a culture of integrity, curiosity, and positivity among internal and external stakeholders aimed at enhancing
overall campus wellness. May be required to work some evenings and weekends. Full time, year round position. This position drops to 20 hours
per week during the months of June and July each year.
- Assist the Executive Director of Community Wellness with all aspects of the
PREP initiative. - Plan and implement adaptive and/or other clinical group classes and ensure appropriate follow-up for ongoing PREP
members. - Assist with testing in the Human Performance Lab.
- Provide professional leadership during PREP
sessions. - Assist the Executive Director with strategic partnerships and events that support inclusive and accessible
wellness. - In collaboration with Student Success and Engagement design and implement a student wellness program.
- Teach 3
credits of WEL classes for HNES. - Lead one group exercise class.
- Support employee wellness programs in collaboration with
Human Resources. - Collaborate with Director of the Fitness center in developing inclusive wellness promotional and educational
materials. - Design and oversee a student wellness website.
- Facilitate a wellness advisory team.
- Maintain professional
expertise by staying current with trends and research, maintaining certifications, and attending professional conferences and
events. - Ability to receive constructive feedback.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Maintain consistent and reliable
attendance.
Qualifications
Education required includes: Bachelors/Masters preferred, ACSM/NSCA/NASM certified, 2 or more
years in health or wellness field.
Knowledge of exercise science, health promotion, and preventative wellness practices is required
as well as:
Experience designing and implementing evidence informed exercise and wellness programs for diverse populations
Ability to work with individuals with varying health conditions, mobility limitations, and adaptive fitness needs
Competence
administering and interpreting wellness and human performance assessments and translating results into individualized exercise programs
Strong leadership and facilitation skills in group exercise, wellness programming, and participant engagement
Excellent
organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple programs, schedules, and participant follow up
Strong interpersonal
and communication skills with students, employees, and community members
Commitment to inclusive and accessible wellness practices
Ability to collaborate across departments and contribute to campus wide wellness initiatives
Initiative and creativity in
developing wellness programming, outreach, and educational materials
Comfort with wellness related technology platforms, websites,
and program tracking systems
Commitment to professional development and maintaining relevant certifications
Demonstrated
integrity, professionalism, positivity, and reliability
