As an assistant manager, you will work flexibly between both Gryphon and Art’s, providing operational support and leadership at each location as needed. You will supervise baristas and work-study students, communicating clearly to maintain a high standard of store operations. You will also assist in training, customer service, product knowledge, and education, while maintaining safe work practices. You will also reinforce successful performance and provide constructive, respectful, and encouraging feedback as needed. Responsibilities include the maintenance of a clean, organized, and well-stocked environment and the estimation of food and beverage costs and requisitions or purchases. Among other duties, you will review financial transactions and monitor budgets to ensure efficient operations and that expenditures stay within budget limitations.

In this role, you will assist the store manager in maintaining a positive environment that delivers fast, efficient, and friendly service to customers and co-workers. Among other duties, you will proactively resolve customer issues across a variety of situations, be accountable for store funds during a shift, and ensure all financial handling procedures are followed. You will confer with food preparation and other personnel to plan daily menus and creative features.

Responsibilities include inspections of all food and food preparation to maintain quality standards and sanitation regulations and investigations into food quality and service complaints. Additionally, you will oversee the hostess stand to greet and seat guests, manage reservations, and ensure the efficient flow of service. Among other duties, you will assist with end-of-day closing procedures to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and the establishment is clean and secure.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong customer service skills. They are familiar with point-of-sale (POS) daily operations and troubleshooting. The candidate can also assist staff with technical issues.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least one year of related experience and training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Management oversight experience
  • Proficiency in the Toast point-of-sale system

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Approval as a SCAD-authorized driver

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
