The University of Pikeville seeks a compassionate and highly organized Clinical Care Coordinator to support patient care operations within the Tanner College of Dental Medicine. This position plays a vital role in coordinating patient services, supporting student providers, and ensuring an efficient and patient-centered clinical experience. The Clinical Care Coordinator works closely with faculty, students, and staff to facilitate comprehensive care delivery while maintaining high standards of professionalism, communication, and service.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate patient scheduling, appointments, and follow-up care to ensure continuity of care.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for patients, addressing questions, concerns, and care coordination needs.
  • Assist in managing patient flow within the clinics to support efficient operations and minimize delays.
  • Collaborate with faculty and student providers to ensure appropriate treatment planning and case progression.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records in the electronic health record system.
  • Verify patient information, insurance coverage, and required documentation prior to appointments.
  • Assist with patient intake, including medical and dental history updates.
  • Support patient education by reinforcing treatment plans, postoperative instructions, and preventive care guidance.
  • Coordinate referrals to specialty care and track completion of referred services.
  • Monitor patient compliance and recall systems to support ongoing care and clinic productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, privacy, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support accreditation activities as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, certificate in dental assisting, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Prior experience in a dental or healthcare setting required.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and patient care processes preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of clinical operations and patient care coordination.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, students, faculty, and staff.
  • Understanding of patient privacy and confidentiality requirements.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to address patient concerns professionally.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality patient-centered service.
