Director of Facilities, Jersey City and Director of Facilities, Union Campus

Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President for Facilities and HVAC, the Directors of Facilities (Director 2) manage the day-to-day operations of the University’s Physical Plant at their respective campus location and ensure continued and effective function in support of academic, administrative and student services. In addition, the Directors manage and sustain high quality facilities operations that support the University’s fundamental mission of teaching, learning and research. The Directors are responsible for all Facilities planning and service delivery across trades, housekeeping and grounds, and collaborate with Transportation and Events to support campus logistics and operational readiness.

Employees are expected to work on site at one of the Kean campus locations. One position is primarily based at the Jersey City location and the other is at the main campus in Union. These positions require travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. These positions are considered essential and assist the Assistant Vice President and Vice President with response in crisis, weather and emergency situations.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree; four years of professional experience with direct involvement in facilities planning, operations, physical plant, budgeting, maintenance RFP’s and emergency response; knowledge of Federal, State and Local building code requirements; and a valid driver’s license is required. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute required experience on a year-for-year basis. This position also requires the ability to perform essential functions that require physical activity including, but not limited to: driving, walking long and short distances, standing for long durations of time outdoors/indoors, bending and/or stooping, occasionally lifting/carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds and climbing stairs. The work environment will expose the Director to chemicals, heat, noise, odor, and dust. The Director will be expected to wear appropriate personal protective devices including gloves, eye protection/face shield, dust mask, N95 respiratory protection, hearing protection and a lab coat or apron.

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Law, the annual salary range for this position is: $125,000 to $140,000. This position may also be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, a retirement plan and benefits for work life balance. Employment at Kean requires working at any of our New Jersey campus locations or affiliated work sites, which may include, but not be limited to: the main campus in Union; Kean Ocean in Toms River; Kean Skylands in Jefferson Township; Kean Jersey City; Kean at Brookdale in Middletown Township; Manahawkin; Princeton; and Trenton. Location assignments will be based on operational and university needs. Faculty may also be assigned to teach online classes for Kean Global.
