Position Information
The
Per Diem Pharmacist is responsible for the safe and accurate dispensing of medications in compliance with federal and California pharmacy
laws and regulations. The core focus of this position is on clinical responsibilities, including the review and interpretation of
prescription orders, medication dispensing, patient counseling, and overall patient care. The pharmacist actively contributes to maintaining
efficient pharmacy workflow, supervising pharmacy technicians and assistants. The Pharmacist also supports the pharmacy’s commitment to
high-quality clinical care by providing medication education and consultation, assisting with inventory oversight, maintaining accurate
pharmacy records, and participating in operational and quality improvement initiatives that enhance pharmacy services for the student
population. This is a per diem position. The salary range for the Per Diem Pharmacist is $85.61 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety
of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must
have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an
employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or
collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional
requirements.

Education Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of
pharmacy with Doctor of Pharmacy degree (pharmD).
Minimum Requirements
Ability to work effectively in a
collaborative healthcare environment and contribute to a team-based approach to patient care. Knowledge of federal and California pharmacy
laws and regulations governing pharmacy practice. Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to medication safety and patient
care. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, providers, and healthcare
staff.

Key
Responsibilities
- Prescription Processing and Clinical Services * Review, interpret, and verify prescription orders for
accuracy, completeness, and clinical appropriateness. * Dispense medications in accordance with state and federal regulations and
institutional policies. * Conduct drug utilization review (DUR) to identify potential drug interactions, allergies, contraindications, or
therapeutic duplications. * Provide patient counseling regarding medication use, side effects, storage, and adherence. * Respond to
medication inquiries from students, providers, and healthcare staff. * Communicate with prescribers to clarify prescriptions and resolve
medication-related concerns. * Provide guidance on appropriate use of over-the-counter (OTC) medications. - Pharmacy Operations and
Workflow * Supervise pharmacy technicians and ensure technician tasks are performed safely and accurately. * Verify medication packaging,
labeling, and dispensing activities performed by pharmacy staff. * Assist with daily pharmacy workflow including medication ordering,
prescription processing, filling, and point-of-sale transactions as necessary. * Participate in operational improvements to enhance pharmacy
efficiency and service quality. - Inventory Management and Medication Control * Assist with monitoring pharmacy medication
inventory to maintain appropriate stock levels. * Monitor medication expiration dates and assist with removal of expired medications. *
Coordinate medication returns and reverse distribution processes. - Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance * Ensure compliance
with California Board of Pharmacy regulations, applicable federal laws, and institutional policies. * Participate in controlled substance
monitoring, documentation, and CURES reporting activities as required. * Assist with pharmacy quality assurance initiatives and medication
safety practices. * Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation. - Training and Professional Development * Provide guidance
and training to pharmacy technicians and pharmacy staff. * Support onboarding and competency development of new pharmacy personnel. *
Participate in staff meetings and departmental training activities.
