The Department of Ophthalmology is seeking applications for an
entry-intermediate research professional to take photos at several clinic locations in Denver and Aurora. This position will work on patient
recruitment and consents for research imaging. Operates specialized ophthalmic equipment. This role will be responsible for providing the
research consent form, educating regarding the study, providing answers to patient’s questions, and capturing the retina’s picture. The
Ophthalmology Department is providing imaging services OCT and Non-mydriatic fundus photography services.
Ophthalmic Photographers
are responsible for providing outstanding customer service to the assigned physicians, referring providers and patient. The individual in
this position will perform a broad spectrum of duties related to the effective and efficient clinical assistance of patients for outpatient
visits and procedures. This includes maintaining precise interactions with nurses, physicians, and any other departments or functions
involved in the delivery of patient care services

Key Responsibilities:
Entry
- Under direct supervision of an eye care provider, assists with
performing patient care and patient flow. - Under direct supervision of an eye care provider: Performs diagnostic imaging and testing
including OCT, fundus photography, visual field testing. Administers intravenous agents in preparation for fluorescein
angiography. - Provides documentation, educates patients, creates appointments and enters charges.
- Performs clinical and
administrative duties in support of assigned area. - Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and
the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate
action.
Intermediate (all of the above, plus:)
- Assist with and oversee the day-to-day operations of clinical trials and
studies - Obtain study subject’s medical history and current medication information, reviews research protocol inclusion/exclusion
criteria, and confirms eligibility of subject to participate in clinical trial - Perform informed consent process or ensures that the
informed consent process has occurred, is properly documented, and that informed consent form documents are filed as
required - Perform documentation and data entry in RedCap dtabase.
- Perform Ophthalmic photography for enrolled participant in
Oculomics study.
Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is
located in Aurora, Colorado.
The Department of Ophthalmology is housed in the Sue
Anschutz-Rodgers Eye Center on the Anschutz Medical Campus. This state-of-the-art facility is one of the largest eye centers in the country

Qualifications
Entry
- Bachelor’s degree in any field
- A combination of education
and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year for year
basis.
Intermediate
- Bachelor’s degree in any field
- A combination of education and related
technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis. - One (1) year
clinical research or related experience - Required Licensure/Certification: Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) within 30 days of
hire or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant certification. Completion of the Ophthalmic Assistant Home Study Course within 1 year of hire
(tracked by unit) or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant Certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare
provider
Preferred Qualifications
Entry
- Bachelor’s degree in science
or health related field - 3+ months of healthcare experience
- Clinical research or related experience
- Experience with
electronic data capture systems (e.g. Epic or EHR and data management systems such as RedCap) - Bilingual,
Spanish-Speaking. - MS Office: Outlook, Power Point, Word.
Intermediate
- Bachelor’s degree in
science or health related field - Two (2) years of clinical research or related experience
Competencies,
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice
(GCP) - Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution - Outstanding customer service skills
- Knowledge of basic
human anatomy, physiology medical terminology - Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol
information
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be able to work in-person.
- Must be able to travel
to alternate locations as assigned. - Must be able to engage in project specifics with OP clinic staff and providers.
- Must be
able to engage with potential participants and patients providing a brief review of Oculomics project and enrolling them into the
project. - Must be able to play an active role doing rounds in waiting rooms and clinical rooms as needed.
- Must be able to
report the number of interactions and enrollment on daily basis. - Must be able to interact and communicate with back-end team via
email, teams, or phone calls. - Must be able to take over data entry and back-end responsibilities as needed.
- Must be able to
engage in communication with IT support from supplier companies. - Must able to engage in communication with University IT
support.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established
as:
Entry
$49,899- $63,472
Intermediate
$54,302- $69,072
The above
salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the
time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
